Guild Wars

I have just recently received a trial key for an MMORPG called Guild Wars. After months of searching for a decent mmorpg I was constantly dissapointed at the level of activity on many of them. On most of the games I tried there were hundreds of people just sitting there doing nothing, and I could hardy get any help at all.

But now I think I've finally found the game for me. Guild Wars is a beautifully detailed game in the way of graphics and has some great gameplay aspects too. Magic is extremely easy to use and plays a big part in combat. Some of the Elementalists powers are fantastic and the Mesmers are a great idea. Mesmers are an illusion, domination and inspiration based profession. I've always loved the idea of illusion magic and now I can finally use it in-game.

There are three different sections to Guild Wars, all rightfully their own game. There is Prophecies (which is the original game), Factions (which brought in two new professions, Assasin and Ritualist) and the latest installment, Nightfall (which introduced many new features as well as another two professions, Paragon and Dervish).

Another great aspect about Guild Wars is it's focus on teamwork. The way that Guild Wars works encourages teamwork very heavily and in many quests its almost impossible to finish it unless you acquire the help of others. Also the different skills and powers work surprisingly well with teams. The fact that you can switch different powers around means that before you embark on a quest/mission you can assign different jobs. Such as one person can load themselves with healing powers in order to keep the rest of the team alive, and another can focus on long range attacks, either with magic or with a bow, and of course you can have members that focus on melee combat and keeping the enemy busy while the rest of the party attack from behind. All this combined makes the combat much more interesting than most games and even low level characters can play a big part in their team.

My trial key has just run out so now I will have to save up to get the full game but it will be well worth the wait.
